Strong foundations are of great importance if we are going to live stable Christian lives. There are going to be times in life when we need to go back and take a look at some foundational truths about faith, and how it works, to make sure that we keep those truths fresh and operating in our lives.
All too often when we are not paying attention to our foundations, we end up developing cracks or even holes that result in instability, shakiness and ineffectiveness in our Christian lives. These cracks or holes become areas that our enemy, the accuser of the brethren, uses to slip into our lives and try to steal, kill, and destroy the life that God is releasing to us and through us.
Then as believers we can tend to blame the preacher, the Word, or even God, that things are no longer working as they used to. We will claim that the principles we once believed in no longer work or even claim that they never worked in the first place. When the real truth is that we, as believers, have not made sure to keep those foundations strong which helps to keep the enemy out.
To make sure that doesn’t happen, it is wise to go back and review some of those foundational truths we have learned and make sure we haven’t laid some key truths aside or perhaps even forgotten things that we once knew.
Believers must remember that revelation from God is built line upon line, and precept upon precept, and that means we will need to hold to the truths we learned in the past and build the new things we learn on them.
