Discovering Life’s Journey

In the book of Psalms chapter 16 and verse 11 of the New Living Translation, the psalmist wrote, “you will show me the way of life… and Jesus told us that He is, “the Way the truth and the life” in John 14:6.

Journey to Life...

The Journey Begins…

The Author of our Salvation

2,000 years ago Jesus Christ came to earth. Though he came into the world in a humble way to an everyday couple, that small baby was God’s answer to humanity’s desperate need for salvation.
Because of sin sin man was separated from God and cut off from the richness of His great blessings. Yet God, because of His great love for us made a decision and came to earth as a simple man — Jesus. He lived and dwelt among us and eventually gave Himself as a sacrifice for man's sin, all because of His great love. The cost of our sin was His life, and He gave it willing so that through Him we could receive salvation and be redeemed. No longer separated from God.
John 3:16, one of the most famous scriptures, illustrates just this, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Jesus became the bridge between mankind and God so that we can have a relationship with the Father. He is our Saviour, our healer, and our Lord.
Jesus came that we might have a more abundant life. He came to carry our weaknesses, our sickness, our pain, so that we can walk in total freedom, peace, power and purpose.
Jesus is more than a historical figure or a great teacher who once lived. He conquered death so that we might live. We don’t have to earn His love and salvation, its’ a free gift available to all who will believe. Jesus wants to have a personal relationship with us. All we have to do to receive that salvation is to come to Him just the way we are and by faith make Jesus the Lord of our lives.
A New Life in Christ

Now that you have made the most important decision of your life, it’s important to make a few changes to keep your life on track with Christ. First, make today a day of new beginnings in your life and don’t look back! Know this, God has forgiven and forgotten your past and has a bright future ahead of you. Romans 8:1 says there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. When condemning voices remind you of your past, don’t forget, God no longer remembers your sin anymore. God’s Word says as far as the east is from the west, so your sins are from His memory.
Second, give us one year of your life and commit to Family Church where your faith can grow. Surround yourself with other believers and friends that will encourage you on this new journey of faith. We encourage you to bring your friends and, so that they can learn and grow in their faith with you.
Finally, we encourage you to get involved in Foundations where you can be taught the fundamentals of walking with God. Join us and discover the wonderful promises and blessings the Lord has in store for His children.

Baptism…

Once you make a decision for Christ, we also encourage you to take that next step of faith and follow in believer’s baptism. The water itself is not special, but a demonstration that you no longer are your old self; you have been buried, and now resurrected in Christ and walk in His power, purpose and love.
To participate in believer’s baptism contact the church office at 403-526-4095 or email us at contact@discoverlife.cc

Live Your Decision…

Once you make your decision for Christ, it’s important to carry out your faith in a plan of action, devotion and dedication to the Lord by becoming involved in church.
Connect, Grow, Serve

To be successful in your Christian walk, it is essential to connect, grow and serve — the DNA of Family Church. Connect with other believers to encourage and strengthen one another, grow in your walk with God through our weekend and midweek services, as well as the various Bible study groups available, and serve others while serving God. Serving others is not just about church, it’s about serving others as a lifestyle...at your church, in your community and around the world.

Give Generously…

Finally, to be successful in your walk with God, commit to honour God with your finances. When you commit to give the Lord the first 10% of your income, God promises He will pour out blessings you cannot contain. Tithing is the first key to financial prosperity.
Scripture says, in Malachi 3:10, “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

Joining the Family of Christ…

We were never meant to journey alone. Connecting with others and building community is a big part of a healthy Christian walk. God’s Word says, “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” — Proverbs 27:17.

You can find strength, support and encouragement through prayer, fellowship and intimate friendships by joining a lifegroup or attending an Encounter weekend. Don’t let the busyness of life get in the way of building lasting relationships with other believers who care about who you are and where you are going in your walk with God.

Become What You Were Created to Be…

It is a natural order for us to grow, and personal growth should be a daily goal to become all that God has created us to be.

Strengthen your faith, and gain knowledge of who God is and who He says you are by attending any weekend or midweek service, or by joining any of our many compass Bible study groups. These groups are designed to meet you where you are in life. Whether single, married or just starting out in your Christian walk, a group that best serves your needs is available before or after every weekend service.

Make a Difference for Others…

Serving others is not just for pastors. Jesus said, “Whatever you did for the least of these you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40. You can touch the very heart of God by serving others around you. Coaching a little league team or helping someone at the grocery store can become a great witness of the love of Christ without preaching a sermon.

Of course, there are many ways to volunteer your time here at Family Church as well. Through our different ministry teams, being at the racetrack with RTR Ministries, or even helping in the nursery, you can help minister the gospel to those seeking the truth found in God’s Word.
Whether here at the church, around town, or even in another country we encourage you to be the greatest representatives of Christ’s love you can be. Your life is a book read by all those around you and speaks volumes of the hope, faith and love found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
